Cole was a potential serial killer and protege to Arthur Strauss. Like Joe Carroll and several others, he learned from Strauss on how to effectively kill and express one's murders. After Ryan Hardy arrives at Strauss's home, searching for his connection to Joe, he plants a bug on his way out and waits nearby listening in on the house. A news reporter by the name of Carrie Cooke arrives, intending to get the scoop from Arthur, but ends up captured by him instead. This prompts Ryan to rush in, only to be caught off guard by Cole who sprays him with a chemical that puts him to sleep.
An anxious yet eerie youth, he desired to make progress in his studies on a Carrie, insisting on removing her hands. Strauss instead suggested starting with the feet, saying that Cole will need to fetch a sledgehammer in order to do so. As he makes his way into the supply area of the basement, he is held up at gunpoint by Mike Weston (who, along with Max Hardy, tracked Ryan to the house). While initially holding his hands up, he turns to try and grab Mike's gun, only to be shot in the back during the struggle by Max. He falls dead to the floor, while the two regroup and go after Strauss.
